The last post on the site announced the launch date of our book, ‘Senna versus Schumacher And Other Formula One Rivalries That Never Happened’.
We also announced that the book would not only contain the original 4 stories that we wrote — Senna versus Schumacher, Villeneuve versus Prost, Moss versus Clark and Ascari versus Fangio — but also a 5th story by a yet-to-be-confirmed author.
That confirmation is today!
The 5th story is titled ‘Richard Seaman, European Champion‘. It was written by Richard Armstrong, and deals with Seaman’s rivalry with Rudolf Caracciola and Hermann Lang in the last seasons before World War II.
You may expect the final announcement, of the well-known guest author of the foreword to our book, on this site, shortly.
After quite some time without any news at all, here’s a bombshell: we picked a publication date for our book:
On Thursday 14 May 2015 we will launch ‘Senna versus Schumacher and Other Formula One Rivalries That Never Happened’.
Why this date? Well, the (fatal) accidents that never happened in our stories, in real life happened in the time frame between late April and late May:
Along with the publication date, we announce 2 suprises:
Both authors will be announced in the 2 months that are left between today and the launch of the book.
We’ll keep you posted!
It’s an early Christmas for you, since today I’d like to introduce the co-author for Senna versus Schumacher: Mattijs Diepraam.
Mattijs is a commercial copywriter and editor, as well as the driving force behind 8W, the motor racing history section of FORIX and autosport.com, and co-creator of dB, a site dedicated to the memory of Carel Godin de Beaufort.
As professional motoring and motorsport journalist, Mattijs is a regular contributor to the Dutch edition of Octane magazine and has published prolifically in RTL GP Magazine and on Driving-fun.com.
Read more about Mattijs (and myself) on the ‘About the authors’ page.
I had a great talk with my co-author, last night. We discussed our new set-up, which revolves around — drum roll, please… — several stories that are much like my Senna versus Schumacher concept, as well as determined a central, unifying theme for those stories.
I will now create a summary consisting of the synopses for all those stories plus the central theme, and send that to our potential publisher. If he is enthousiastic about the concept, we will likely opt for a Dutch version of the book, which might then be translated to English (and/or other languages) at a later date.
When we have a clearer view of what we’ll be doing, I’ll outline our alternate set-up some more, as well as introduce the co-author.
