New job, new energy, more writing?

My new job has indeed come to fruition. Starting on October 1st, I’ll be working as an interactive media consultant at the Evangelische Omroep, a Dutch Christian TV and radio broadcaster.

Doing some more writing…

I hope to find new energy in working at the EO, and find (or rather make) the time to get back into writing The Encounter Down Under. In principle, I would like to continue on the path I’ve chosen: a free e-book of which I’ve written part I and the first half of part II. My progress up to now dictates that I start on the Canadian Grand Prix on which I had finished research last Spring.

Get in touch with publisher again

On the other hand I would also like to get in touch again with the publisher I corresponded with, in February and March of this year, to see whether my alternate set-up has any potential to turn into a proper book.

I’ll keep you posted on this new blog location. Feel free to comment or ask questions: I’m happy to answer any of them.

More time for writing with new job?

I’m currently working on a new job, and should that come to fruition, I may get some more time to write The Encounter Down Under. The job is 36 hours per week, just like my current one, but with an option to do 9-hour days. This would free up not only my bi-weekly daddy day with my now 1-year-old son Nathan, but provide me with another day off every fortnight.

Maybe I’ll do some writing during my upcoming vacation

I’ll be on vacation for 2 weeks from next Friday. I’ll be taking my iBook with me, and haven’t got too much planned in terms of activities. So maybe I’ll be able to do some writing on either the original idea — I have all the input necessary to write the Canadian GP chapter — or an ultra-short version of the entire story. I reckong I could write that without too much detailed research.

Discussed my book with a potential publisher

Late January, I discussed my book, The Encounter Down Under, with a potential publisher. I contacted him through a mutual acquaintance at LinkedIn — actually, there were two steps between him and me — and we met at his office in Amsterdam. He had read part I of the Senna versus Schumacher story and liked the what-if concept of my book.

Pick-up my writing in the New Year

With Christmas just around the corner, and New Year’s after that, I don’t expect to finish the Spanish Grand Prix chapter of The Encounter Down Under any time soon. I reckon I’d be best off just planning to pick-up writing for my Senna versus Schumacher story in January. And, as you’ve read, I’ll be working on the book at least one day every other week, so I hope to progress more than I have done the last few months.

Thanks to all my readers for their interest, this year. I hope to make everybody happy with part II of my book early next year. For now, though a bit early, I wish you a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2009.
